The online ATNZ Trade Taster is a short, beginner-friendly course designed to introduce you to essential engineering skills, safe workshop practices, and basic measurement and fabrication concepts. It’s perfect for secondary school leavers, career changers, or anyone interested in exploring the trades before committing to an apprenticeship.


This course uses real engineering unit standards that count toward future training pathways.

Entry requirements
- You must be 16 years or older
- You must be a Domestic Student (NZ Citizen, Resident, or Resident Visa holder)
- No prior experience is required
- Access to a computer and internet for online learning
