If you’ve completed the ATNZ Trade Taster and wish to continue developing your engineering skills, the Trade Taster Plus provides the opportunity to earn an additional 25 credits of engineering unit standards, which can be credited towards a future apprenticeship.


This lets you customise training to your interests, goals, or the type of engineering work you’re planning to move into.

Choosing Your Unit Standards
You will work with an ATNZ Account Manager, who will help you choose unit standards that match:
- Your learning goals
- The type of work you want to move into
- Your confidence and skill level
- The needs of your current or future employer
Examples of unit standards include practical engineering tasks, measurement, fabrication basics, workshop safety, and engineering calculations.
Entry requirements
- Must be 16 years or older
- Must be a domestic student (NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have eligible domestic fee status)
- Completion of the Trade Taster course
