This unit standard bundle delivers the mandatory safety training required by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) for people applying for, or working under, a Trainee Limited Certificate (TLC).
It equips learners with essential electrical safety knowledge and the practical understanding needed to work safely under the supervision of a registered electrical worker.


This bundle is ideal for new entrants working toward an electrical trade role who must complete safety training within the first 3 months of receiving (or applying for) a TLC.

Included Unit Standards
This short course covers the two EWRB-approved unit standards required for the TLC:
- Unit Standard 30658
Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental electrical safety in the workplace.
Level: 2 Credits: 2 Delivery: Online
- Unit Standard 30657
Low-voltage electrical subcircuits and perform basic checks and tests to confirm isolation.
Level: 2 Credits: 1 Delivery: On job

Important Note from EWRB
To legally perform electrical work in New Zealand as a trainee, you must:
- Hold or have applied for a Trainee Limited Certificate, and
- Complete approved safety training within 3 months of receiving that certificate.
You will also need to complete First Aid and CPR Unit Standards 6401 and 6402, provided by external First Aid training organisations.
